Reviews
My family (myself, wife and two girls ages 6 & 8) were out on a hike and on a whim we decided to go to Marie Callender's because our girls had been talking about wanting some pie. We had not been here for almost 2 years. The last time we were here was right before the pandemic. Their main dining room area is closed so they are serving all customers in the smaller sports bar side of the restaurant. Our girls had chicken strips and fries with lemonade. My wife had the Vegetable Soup and I had the Chili. My wife enjoyed her soup and my Chili was really good. As always the star of the show was the cornbread which they serve instead of bread (and also comes with the soup/chili). Our girls had a slice of the Chocolate Satin pie and I had the Lemon Cream Cheese Pie. The pie was great. Our server (Isaac) was really great and took good care of us. Overall we had a great experience. This restaurant is showing its age and very little has changed over the years. It's a place you go for comfort food, because of nostalgia, or the pie. Update to my previous review: When we were here last kids ate free on Tuesday and Saturday but now looks like its only Tuesday.
Growing up, we always ordered the kahlua cream cheese pie which has kahlua mocha throughout a velvety cream cheese pie in a chocolate cookie crust. Right now, there's a sale going on for all pies! I ordered the banana cream pie and kahlua pie. Note that for some strange reason, you can't order the kahlua pie online (at least not the location I was trying), but you can always call and order it or just go into the restaurant and pick one up. The host was kind on the phone when I ordered and she was fast in packaging the pies and ringing me up! Verdict: the banana cream pie's filling is rich and the fresh ripe bananas are great! It's not the best crust I've had on a banana cream pie but I did enjoy the filling. Also, the crust wasn't in perfect condition, but that is okay as I know they are mass producing it. The pie is quite sweet in comparison to some other banana cream pies. I would also recommend Palo Alto Creamery or 43 and Co for their banana cream pie, which is lighter on the sweetness and has an amazing crust.
MC is very nostalgic to me as our family grew up eating their pies for as long as I can remember. The Kahula cheesecake in the chocolate pie crust was always my fave. Now there aren't a whole lot of locations left but luckily one near home to pick up my dads favorite, the classic apple pie. Score for online orders but quite a line on Father's Day as everyone else had the same idea! Love how they still do monthly specials as well.
This review is for their pies. We actually haven't eaten their food in a long time, although we used to frequent the restaurant a lot when we were kids. Used to love their chicken broccoli fettuccine and the turkey croissant sandwich. Definitely come to this location for the pie sale! Almost all the pies are $9.99 here for the October pie sale unlike the Sunnyvale location. There are a few pies for $12.99 but still a great deal. The pies still taste the way I remember when we had them as kids. Our favorites are the cream cheese pies. Original, lemon and Khalua are all delicious. The double cream lemon is also really good! Will definitely be back for the next pie sale. Service was fast and friendly. Would be willing to try some old favorites off their menu as well.
This review is purely based on their coconut cream pie. We were given one this week and it's delicious! It's so good that it's dangerous for your waist.
